May it be possible to somehow signify how much new talks one has missed on the forum by introducing a number shown besides the thread name, on the right for instance, with the number of posts unread since the last check?

by "talks" do you mean posts? if so, it's probably possible. but it'd work only for threads you are subscribed to i think, if i were to do it. i don't track that information elsewhere, so you'd have to subscribe first

Yup, affirmative. I want it to be possible to see the number of new posts within a thread, besides that thread.

Second one is fine, but the first lacks in visibility a bit. I kind of imagined the counter to take place same as Stickied/Locked signifiers, with the number of unreads being the symbol. To not be redundant (and also, works as an extra signifier that you are subscribed to a certain thread), may only demonstrate this block of the column on those threads one is subscribed to. like this:

hmm, no sorry i dont like that. it'd require a more complex grid layout for the topic row. either all of them have this extra column or none, and i don't like it taking up extra space that is unused if you are not subscribed to a thread
