should posting in a thread move it up in the threads list, like a traditional forum? in other words, should the threads list (by-topic view) be sorted by activity rather than thread creation date? i'm equally OK with either doing that or having it stay sorted by creation date as it is now.

how about giving the option to the user?

just a button/flag to toggle sorting by activity rather than creation. i feel like this is a very per-person-basis preference/opinion.

bumping kinda does lead people to recent activity, which is probably what you want in most cases, so i think i'm for it

i agree with tochie - choosing the default is the bigger issue. i can (and will, when it comes to it) provide an option but most people do not change options

well then in my opinion the most logic is by activity (threads with latest post in them are first).

I think bumping by default makes sense, as a user I want to see the threads with last activity, not necessarily last created. It's frequent in old small forums that the latest posted thread is a year old, with intense activity in some older threads for example.

in main now. default sort is by activity. there is a setting (in the user settings).
